There was a dream I was waiting to fulfill for such a long time.
Finally in 2015 started to blow a good eastward wind and so, I decided to set the sails and leave for this new adventure.
Myanmar was waiting for me, and I decided to go and meet her. No, I felt like I had to do it. I needed to take my backpack and visit that poor but yet beautiful land that witness one of the most heinous dictatorships. It was hard to believe how the stars could be still shine so joyful and bright at night, knowing the genocide still going on on the most remote parts of that same country.
Luckily, the International Community, along with the restless work of NGOs brought the country on a trail toward a "sort of" path to Freedom and supposed Democracy. So, in November 2015 there were "free elections". I couldn't miss the opportunity to witness such an historical turning point. So, I went there. Exactly there, when the Peace Nobel Prize Winner, Aung San Suu Kyi won the elections!
Just after that I went for a few days to Thailand, for some good sea, food and booze, before coming back to the Italian Winter. Since then, I still miss the emotions I felt along this trip.
I can't forget the day when I left Myanmar. There was a song playing in my MP3, called "Emerald Island" and at the words "Stay with me, Stay with me..." I felt chills as sounded like this beautiful land, Lady Myanmar, was asking me to stay with her longer. I wish I did it. I really do.
